The light always comes first, and everything else follows. The light is the essence of my photography, its mood, quality, and details. I use light as a poet uses words. If there is no perfect light to reflect my idea or my mood, there will be no photo. I just won't release the shutter.

The idea for this series came to me a long time ago... several years back. You might remember there was a wonderful cartoon in Soviet times, "Robbery, Style Of... ". It told a few stories about robberies, and each robbery was special, unique in its own way: one was done the French way, one the American way, and one even the Italian way...

You need to shoot a lot. If you do it at parties with friends and once a year on a cheap beach vacation - believe me, you have no chance. No chance of taking a frame that will delight somebody beyond your relatives and the neighbor's dog.
